Where data lives on the network is a critical aspect of any distributed RHIO architecture. Acquiring clinical data from its origin in real time when a care providers is seeking to view the data creates a performance challenge. Alternatively, storing data at multiple points in the network creates challenges with data ownership and network storage requirements.
In order to facilitate highly performant access to clinical data, CareEvolution Adapters acquire clinical data from other adapters after the Record Locator Service has advised the adapters of other sources of clinical data for a particular patient. Clinical data that is replicated to an adapter is cached for a configurable period of time based in the requirements of the RHIO.
